The WritePath English Competence Test
Where does your child’s English actually sit?
A free, timed test of how your child reads, understands and uses English — comprehension, vocabulary and grammar — measured against grade-level expectations drawn from the State Standards. Marked by the same system that marks WritePath members’ work every week.
- An honest starting pointThe report shows what’s secure, what’s building, and the single most useful next step.
- A real measurementTimed like a proper test, marked exactly against the keys.
- The complete pictureAdd the Writing test and you’ve covered everything English asks of them.
Start below — your details first, then choose the test. ↓
Part 1 — Delivery details
Let us prepare the delivery of this test.
The report is emailed the moment marking finishes — tell us where to send it, and who is sitting the test.
The report goes here — a parent, or a tutor working with the family.
First name only — never a surname.
Not sitting with the child right now?
Send them a link instead — they sit it whenever they’re ready, and the clock only starts when they do. The report still comes to you.
Used once, to send the link — nothing else. The link lasts 14 days.
Part 2 — Choose the test
Pick your child’s grade.
Open your child’s grade below and pick one to sit now:
- Full — the complete measurement. Recommended
- Light — a shorter sitting that still gives a true reading. Good when time is short.
- Writing — a separate test with its own sitting. Add it another day to complete the picture.
